GUNUNGSITOLI — SEGARIS.CO — The Gunungsitoli District Court held the first trial of the alleged election criminal case involving three Gunungsitoli City Government officials, namely the Regional Secretary (Sekda) OW, the Head of BPBD EJD, and the Mayor’s Expert Staff TT.
The trial took place on Tuesday (03/12/2024) in the Cakra courtroom, Gunungsitoli District Court, North Sumatra.
The trial, led by Chief Justice Zulfadly with two member judges Gabriel Lase, and Alexander Hengki Yao, scheduled the reading of the indictment and taking statements from the victim and witnesses.
The clerks on duty were Anuari Gea, and Roni Syahputra Waruwu.

Public Prosecutors (JPU) from the Gunungsitoli District Attorney’s Office, Nicolaus and Hendra Tafona’o, presented the candidate pair for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Gunungsitoli, Sowa’a Laoli-Martinus Lase, as victims in this case.
In addition to the three defendants, a number of witnesses were also presented to provide information.
The case has been declared P21
Before entering the trial, the Gunungsitoli District Attorney’s Office had submitted the case files after being declared complete (P21).
The Head of the Gunungsitoli District Attorney’s Office through the Head of Intelligence, Sulaiman Rifai Harahap, confirmed that the agenda for this first trial focused on examining witnesses.
From the statements of the witnesses given today, the defendant’s position seemed quite depressed.
The trial continued on Wednesday, (04/12/2024) with the presentation of expert witnesses by the JPU.
Defense of the defendant’s attorney
The defendant’s attorney, Ikhtiar Elfasri Gulo, and Itoloni Gulo, stated that they could not yet provide a conclusion regarding the facts of the trial.
According to them, the trial agenda is still focused on taking statements from the victim and witnesses.
“Today’s trial is still in the early stages. We will wait for all witness statements to be completed before preparing responses and pleas at the next trial,” said Ikhtiar.
The next trial will be an important momentum, considering that expert witnesses will provide statements that have the potential to strengthen or weaken the charges against the three defendants.
